Ascot handicap looks like red-hot form - and watch out for this Gordon Elliott star back at Grade 1 level
Found A Fifty put up the outstanding performance over jumps last weekend when winning the Grade 2 chase over two and a half miles at Down Royal on Saturday and, in doing so, boosted the form for a handicap run at Ascot.
Found A Fifty travelled and jumped like a horse who was running in a class below, comfortably beating off the challenge of the race-fit Pinkerton after the last. While not particularly noticeable on Saturday, he did show an inclination to edge right at some of his fences last season, so he’s likely to be marginally more effective going this way round.
Gordon Elliott had said that he “wouldn’t rule out three miles for him at some stage”, yet after his Saturday win mentioned “we could come back to two miles”. It’s possible his next start will be in the John Durkan Memorial, run at Punchestown this month, when it will be interesting to see if he can confirm the decent impression of this reappearance, with the benefit that it is also a right-handed track.
