A startling omission that needs to be rectified in Champions: Full Gallop part two
The worst-kept secret in racing was finally revealed in these pages just before Christmas with confirmation that Champions: Full Gallop will return to our screens.
After rave reviews and healthy viewing figures, it always stood a much better chance of getting a second series than Alan Partridge memorably did (the cheese scene still cracks me up), but it was still great to hear the show will go on.
The value of the programme to the sport is immense. Series one aired in a primetime slot on ITV1 at 9pm and averaged 930,000 viewers an episode, including repeat viewing and consolidated viewing across 28 days. Furthermore, the series had a reach of 4.3 million people and was streamed 1.5m times on ITVX.
