One trainer, one jockey, one horse and one race to watch on Saturday
Trainer
Charlie Appleby has a number of leading chances in Dubai, such as Secret Advisor, favourite for the Dubai Gold Cup, and Space Blues, who bids for his sixth successive win in the Al Quoz Sprint.
He also has a runner in the UAE Derby, Rebel's Romance, who was fourth in the Saudi Derby at the Saudi Cup meeting last month.
The trainer won the 2019 Unibet Lincoln (3.10), with Auxerre, and has a fancied contender for the Doncaster highlight in Eastern World, a winner at Meydan last time.
Jockey
Only two apprentices have won the Unibet Lincoln but Benoit de la Sayette will bid to buck the trend having picked up a plum ride aboard Haqeeqy for joint-trainers John and Thady Gosden.
The 7lb claimer is deputising after Dane O'Neill, who is retained to ride for owner Hissa Hamdan Al Maktoum, was unable to return from Bahrain in time to take the mount due to Covid-19 restrictions.
De la Sayette, who rode his first winner as recently as December 28 at Newcastle, has since ridden a further eight on the all-weather but will find a 22-runner cavalry charge on turf a very different test.
Horse
David Egan and Mishriff will bid for another major payday in the Group 1 Sheema Classic (4.10) at Meydan for the Gosden team.
The four-year-old was last seen beating top US dirt horses in the $20 million Saudi Cup, the world's richest race, in February.
The race has attracted a competitive field including leading Japanese contender Chrono Genesis and Hong Kong Vase winner Mogul.
Race
The Dubai World Cup (4.50) attracts many of the world's best dirt runners and has been won by the likes of Arrogate and California Chrome.
The market is headed by Mystic Guide, who was second in a Grade 1 at Belmont Park on his penultimate start for trainer Michael Stidham.
Saeed bin Suroor has won this race four times since 2014, and sends out Gifts Of Gold, a handicap winner in Riyadh last time.
