One trainer, one jockey, one horse and one race to watch on Monday

British racing is back with a ten-race card at Newcastle on Monday, with a good mix of quality and quantity on show. Add the French 2,000 and 1,000 Guineas at Deauville into the mix and there is plenty to look forward to. Here is a key trainer, jockey, horse and race to watch . . .

Trainer

Tim Easterby saddles six runners at the first meeting since British racing's shutdown and unleashes exciting three-year-old Art Power in division two of the 6f novice stakes (2.45).

The King Power Racing-owned colt finished an encouraging third on debut at Newcastle in September and built on that promise when a ready five-length winner at York the following month.

He boasts an official rating of 97 and looks a smart prospect for connections this term. New recruits True Blue Moon (3.20) and Iva Reflection (3.55) are other intriguing runners for the Habton Grange trainer.

Jockey

Ben Curtis will be hoping to regain his blistering momentum from the winter, during which he rode 101 winners in the All-Weather Championship period between October 22 and what proved the final day of the campaign on March 14.

Curtis is booked for seven rides and six of those mounts are single-figure prices, most notably debutant winner Little Red Socks in division one of the 6f novice stakes (2.10) and dual course scorer Ice Pyramid in the 1m4f handicap (5.05).

Horse

Classic clues could be discovered in division one of the 1m2f maiden (5.40) in which potential Investec Oaks hope Frankly Darling bids to strike on her second start.

Owned by Anthony Oppenheimer and trained by John Gosden, Frankly Darling finished second on debut over a mile at Yarmouth in October and is odds-on to go one better.

Robert Havlin's mount has been supported at big prices for the Oaks in recent weeks with bet365 and Betfred offering a standout 33-1 for the Classic that will now be staged on Derby day at Epsom on July 4.

Race

Classic answers will be found at Deauville where the French 2,000 (2.50) and 1,000 Guineas (3.25) take centre stage, and Andre Fabre could hold the key.

Victor Ludorum will have to bounce back from a below-par third on his return in the Prix de Fountainebleau earlier this month but heads the betting for the French 2,000, known as the Poule d'Essai des Poulains, in which Fabre also saddles Criterium International winner and stable debutant Alson as well as the progressive Arapaho.

Tropbeau is the leading contender for Fabre in the fillies' equivalent, the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches, after her win in the Prix de la Grotte on her reappearance. Tickle Me Green, third in that race, completes Fabre's Classic team.
