Racing returns to terrestrial TV on Friday with seven races from action-packed cards at Lingfield and Newmarket broadcast live on ITV4. Here is a key trainer, jockey, horse and race for you to watch . . .

Trainer

Ed Walker has five entries on Friday including the well-fancied English King, who will be partnered by in-form jockey Tom Marquand in the Listed Betsafe Derby Trial Stakes (3.15) at Lingfield.

Owned by Bjorn Nielsen, English King made two starts last season and recorded his breakthrough success at Newcastle in November.

The trainer also sends out Swindler in the competitive Betway Handicap (1.50) at Newmarket and the four-year-old heads the market after winning another 6f handicap at Ascot last year.

Jockey

William Buick was the leading jockey at Newmarket last year and he has a top book of rides on Friday, including leading contender Ghaiyyath in the Group 1 Hurworth Bloodstock Coronation Cup (3.35).

The top jockey will also partner Renaissance Queen in the fillies' novice stakes (4.45). She is unraced and her trainer Charlie Appleby has an excellent record with first-time-out youngsters.

Horse

Classic contenders will put their credentials on the line in the Listed Betsafe Top Price All Runners Oaks Trial Fillies' Stakes (2.40) at Lingfield, including the John Gosden-trained Miss Yoda.

The three-year-old finished runner-up behind Max Vega in the Group 3 Zetland Stakes last October having won her first two starts.

Gosden won the trial last year with Anapurna, who went on to win the Epsom Classic, and has spoken highly of Miss Yoda.

Race

The Coronation Cup (3.35), which has been moved from Epsom to Newmarket, has once again attracted a high-quality field including star stayer Stradivarius, who has not run over a mile and a half since he was beaten in a Chester handicap in 2017.

He is prominent in the betting alongside Group 1 winner Ghaiyyath and Anthony Van Dyck, who won the Derby last year for Aidan O'Brien.

The race is a truly heavyweight contest, not least because it also includes last season's winner Defoe and the David Simcock-trained Desert Encounter, who has scored at the highest level in Canada.
