One trainer, one jockey, one horse and one race to follow on Saturday
One trainer
John Quinn, who saddles the top two in the market in the feature Casumo Best Odds Guaranteed Temple Stakes at Haydock (4.10), may be set for a red-letter Saturday.
The North Yorkshire trainer will be represented by Liberty Beach and Keep Busy in the Group 2 contest. Both will make their seasonal appearances following solid campaigns at the top level last season.
Liberty Beach landed the Cecil Frail at this track before hitting the frame in the King's Stand at Royal Ascot and the Prix de l'Abbaye, while Keep Busy was runner-up in the Flying Five Stakes on Irish Champions Weekend before finishing fifth in the Longchamp Group 1.
Similar top-level assignments could await both later this season as the trainer seeks a first victory in the prestigious sprint.
One jockey
It is similarly a big day for Adam McNamara at the Lancashire track as he goes in search of a first Group 2 victory aboard the exciting Dragon Symbol in the Sandy Lane Stakes (3.35).
McNamara enjoyed a memorable success in the Ebor at York on Heartbreak City in 2016, but has had to wait a while for a crack at success at this level.
He gets the chance on the three-year-old, who is unbeaten in four starts and was an impressive winner at Hamilton this month. They could be on course for the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot should they be successful.
It is also a notable day for trainer Archie Watson, who unleashes stable star Glen Shiel in the Group 2 Greenlands Stakes at the Curragh.
One horse
This month's 2,000 Guineas hero Poetic Flare is battle-hardened after three runs this spring and he makes another quickfire return in the Irish equivalent at the Curragh on Saturday (3.20).
The son of Dawn Approach was victorious by a short head on the Rowley Mile and only ran six days ago when attempting a rare double in the French 2,000 Guineas, in which he finished a staying-on sixth behind St Mark's Basilica.
Poetic Flare, who will complete a rare treble by running in all three major European Guineas, bids to become the first English-Irish Guineas winner since Churchill in 2017.
One race
The race of the day is undoubtedly the Irish 2,000 Guineas (3.20), should the fixture at the Curragh survive an early morning inspection.
As well as Poetic Flare, narrow 2,000 Guineas third Lucky Vega bids for revenge against his Newmarket conqueror, while Aidan O'Brien is represented by Wembley – the mount of Ryan Moore – Van Gogh and Battleground. All three will aim to atone for below-par performances on the Rowley Mile.
Jim Bolger is also represented by last season's Vertem Futurity hero Mac Swiney and with Kevin Manning remaining loyal to Poetic Flare, Rory Cleary gets the call for another big-race ride.
La Barrosa, second to Master Of The Seas in the Craven Stakes, and The Rosstafarian represent British trainers Charlie Appleby and Hugo Palmer in an open Tattersalls-sponsored Classic.
