No Monday morning blues for Enable as she completes serious Arc preparation
Enable completed the serious preparation for her bid to make history in the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe on Sunday when making a timely return to the hallowed turf of the Limekilns on Monday morning.
A little after 7am, the ten-time Group 1 winner, who is the general 8-11 favourite to complete an unprecedented Arc hat-trick, turned left out of Clarehaven Stables and made her way to the world-famous training grounds which had previously been out of action for six weeks due to a lack of rain.
After a deluge on Sunday, however, the trial ground was riding perfectly as Frankie Dettori fired his mount five lengths clear of regular lead horse Crossed Baton (Robert Havlin) over seven furlongs.
This was the first time that Enable had been on a turf gallop for nearly two months and she made the most to leave connections in good spirits.
Rather than sit behind Crossed Baton as she had in her workout on the Rowley Mile five days previously, Enable led the gallop this time and seemed to enjoy it as she finished off her exercise with a killer turn of foot.
While a prohibitive favourite to come home first at Longchamp, Enable will need to be at her best to repel the likes of top-class three-year-olds Japan and Sottsass, while talented types including Ghaiyyath, Waldgeist and Magical will also be out to spoil the party.
Trainer John Gosden said: "It was great to get Enable back on the Limekilns where the ground was the easy side of good and conditions were perfect as there was no wind.
"I put her in front as it's best to mix it up with her as she can easily get bored doing the same thing. Frankie was happy with her and hopefully we can get through the next six days.
"This was an important exercise and now we will just tick her over until Longchamp."
