'No hard feelings' as Roger Charlton and Jason Watson go their separate ways

Roger Charlton and Jason Watson have ended their association after almost three years. The partnership, announced at the end of 2018 when Watson had just become champion apprentice, was highly successful in its early stages and survived into this season but the jockey's number of rides for the Beckhampton yard have tapered away to nothing in recent weeks.

Acknowledging the news as he travelled to Lingfield on Wednesday, Watson emphasised there were no hard feelings on either side. "We've always had a good relationship and we've had some great days together," the 21-year-old said.

"He [Charlton] made it quite clear that it's not that he doesn't ever want to use me. There will be occasions where we do partner up again."
