QEII favourite Charyn among Champions Day contenders put through their paces ahead of Ascot
There were clues for Qipco British Champions Day at Ascot right across town on Wednesday, not least on the Rowley Mile where Queen Elizabeth II Stakes favourite Charyn was in action under Silvestre de Sousa.
Former apprentice Alan Rutter described the ground as soft on the far-side track, where he rode the lead horse for the seven-furlong exercise with the Roger Varian-trained grey coming home five lengths to the good passing the deserted stands.
Owner Nurlan Bizakov, in town for the sales, was on hand to watch the work before day two of the October Yearling Sales at Park Paddocks.
