Giavellotto gunning for Kyprios - plus news on a special workout from a juvenile heading to the St Leger festival
Giavellotto is set for his first encounter with the mighty Kyprios in the Group 1 Comer Group International Irish St Leger next Sunday and warmed up for his first Irish outing on the watered gallop on Saturday under Marco Ghiani.
The five-year-old has proved a revelation since dropping back from two miles this season and is 5-1 second favourite to make it a hat-trick at the Curragh following Group 2 wins in the Yorkshire Cup and Princess of Wales's Stakes.
The chestnut is making up for lost time as he could have run in the all-aged Curragh Classic a year ago but instead tackled the 2m Lonsdale Stakes at York, which connections have since learned exposes his stamina.
