New Bay gets go-ahead for Chantilly but no Midterm decision

New Bay, last year's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe third has been declared an intended runner for next month's renewal at Chantilly, but owner/breeder Khalid Abdullah has yet to decide whether Midterm will join him in the line-up at Chantilly a week on Sunday.
New Bay stayed on best of those ridden prominently to be fourth behind Almanzor in the Irish Champion Stakes this month, while Midterm went down by half a length to Makahiki in the Prix Niel, his first start since sustaining a pelvic injury at York in May.
"Midterm has come out of the race fine but we are going to see and he is not yet confirmed," said Abdullah's racing manager Teddy Beckett. "It will be down to the horse himself. He is coming back after a break and it is just a question of whether it is the right thing to do to stick him in the deep end so soon after coming back."
