Newmarket trainer David Simcock has launched a withering attack on Newcastle racecourse after his staff were among those to report substandard levels of accommodation and facilities over the three-day Northumberland Plate meeting.

The Simcock team had two runners at the meeting, with members of the yard staying in accommodation organised by the racecourse on Friday and Saturday night.

On-site accommodation at Newcastle is currently out of use due to Covid-19 regulations and as a result all staff were booked into hotels across the city over the three days.
