Mohaather the joint-highest rated horse in training following Sussex swoop

When you handicap a seven-runner race and four of the runners are noted with a plus sign, denoting they were better than the result, then you can infer it was packed with incident.

You might have guessed that the race in question was last week's thrilling Sussex Stakes, and you would be right. Do not think that the uncertainty marked by the pluses renders the race useless for handicapping purposes, though.

Mohaather is now the joint-highest rated horse in training on Racing Post Ratings following his defeat of Circus Maximus. His 127 bare figure has been bumped up to reflect his troubled run, putting him on 129. Only Ghaiyyath and Battaash have matched that over the last 12 months.
