Rags-to-riches filly Miss Amulet appears set to make her final appearance for Ken Condon when contesting a Grade 2 sprint at Kentucky Downs on Saturday, with last year's Lowther heroine likely to be covered at Coolmore's Ashford Stud next spring.

Having cost just €1,000 as a foal and £7,500 as a yearling, the daughter of Sir Prancealot failed to set the world alight on her first two starts – posting Racing Post Ratings of 58 and 66 – before showing substantial improvement in stakes company.

Miss Amulet career details

She was snapped up privately to race in the colours of Doreen Tabor after wins at Listed and Group 2 level, and was then touched off by Alcohol Free in the Cheveley Park Stakes before splitting top performers Mother Earth and Campanelle when third in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.

However, after finishing down the field on unsuitable ground in the Irish 1,000 Guineas and never landing a blow in the July Cup, Miss Amulet is now preparing for her final start under Condon's care in the Grade 2 Franklin-Simpson Stakes over 6½f.

Condon said: "She hasn't been at her best in her couple of runs this season but it'll be interesting to see how she gets on because she's in great form and has been doing well of late.

"She's only run twice and there were certainly mitigating circumstances on her first start of 2021 in the Irish 1,000 Guineas."

Among the opposition in this weekend's $600,000 event is 2020 Norfolk Stakes scorer The Lir Jet, making his first start since joining Brendan Walsh after a gelding procedure.

Condon added: "I'd imagine she's going to be covered by an Ashford stallion in the spring, but if she showed up well over there you'd think she could end up running again over there. There are opportunities for a filly like her in the States.

"Julien Leparoux takes the ride again this weekend, having ridden her when third at Keeneland last November. She flew into Chicago, did her quarantine there and got into Kentucky Downs on Tuesday morning after a ten-hour drive."
