Mishriff's demolition job in the Juddmonte International last week rates his best performance yet, with a Racing Post Rating of 128 now ranking the three-time Group 1 winner the leading older horse in the world ahead of stablemate Palace Pier.

A higher figure for such an impressive six-length winner of the York showpiece might have been expected, however, reflecting doubts over the depth of last week's field for an elite Group 1 with neither Love nor Alcohol Free being anywhere near their best.

Take them out of the race, and this thrashing of Alenquer, who was seven and a quarter lengths behind Hurricane Run in the Grand Prix de Paris last month – with the Group 1 debutant Mohaafeth and the mud-loving Mac Swiney not far behind – does not look quite as special as first anticipated.
