Leading Prix Jacques le Marois contender Maljoom has been ruled out of Sunday's contest, trainer William Haggas said on Thursday morning.

The three-year-old was vying for favouritism with 2,000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes winner Coroebus, but will not take his place in the Group 1 at Deauville having scoped dirty.

Haggas said: "He's out of Deauville with a dirty scope. Hopefully it should be a short spell on the sidelines for him."

The son of Caravaggio had finished a luckless fourth, beaten half a length, behind Coroebus at Royal Ascot in June and had been set for a highly anticipated rematch in France.

Coroebus is now the 15-8 market leader for the race with Paddy Power and Betfair to pick up a third Group 1, while star filly Inspiral, whose participation was confirmed earlier in the week, is a 2-1 chance.

Top-class international performer State Of Rest is also expected to line up as he drops down in trip following his Prince of Wales's Stakes success and is a 9-2 shot.

Prix Jacques le Marois (Deauville, Sunday)

Paddy Power: 6-4 Coroebus, 2 Inspiral, 9-2 State Of Rest, 7 Native Trail, 8 Light Infantry, Prosperous Voyage, 16 bar
