The iconic silks of leading owner Trevor Hemmings are set to make their first appearance on a racecourse since his death this month when Cloth Cap starts off at Cheltenham on Saturday on what connections hope will be a fairytale journey back to the Grand National.

Hemmings, who died at the age of 86 last week, had an unmatched passion for the Aintree highlight, which he captured a joint-record three times with Hedgehunter, Ballabriggs and Many Clouds.

Cloth Cap went off 11-2 favourite to put the billionaire businessman out on his own as the most successful owner in the prestigious marathon, but he was pulled up by Tom Scudamore three fences from home behind Minella Times in April.
