Ed Walker has been forced to scrap plans to send Celandine across to California for the Breeders' Cup this week.

He had been aiming the two-year-old, who won the Lowther Stakes at York in August, at the Juvenile Fillies Turf at Del Mar on Friday.

But the trainer revealed on Monday morning: "She wasn't quite right after her final piece of work on Thursday. After a long year we didn't want to take any chances.

"But she's absolutely fine and is a very exciting filly to look forward to for next year."

Celandine had been due to be ridden by Tom Marquand, who has been on board for each of her seven races.

The filly, owned and bred by Rockcliffe Stud, won a maiden at Windsor and the Listed Empress Stakes at Newmarket in June before landing the Group 2 Lowther at York in August.

Since finishing fifth in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket, she had gone to Kempton for a workout round a bend in readiness for her step up to a two-turn mile at Del Mar.

She was a best-priced 33-1 shot for the Juvenile Fillies Turf, with Cheveley Park winner Lake Victoria the hot favourite at no better than even-money.

More details on Celandine and Walker's other horses appear in the trainer's Racing Post Weekender column, published on Wednesday.
