Yorkshire Oaks confirmations: Snowfall on course to repeat Enable heroics
Snowfall remains on course to become the second horse in the last five years to complete the English, Irish and Darley Yorkshire Oaks clean sweep as she headlined ten confirmations for the Group 1 (3.35) on the second day of York's Ebor festival next Thursday.
The Aidan O'Brien-trained daughter of Deep Impact has blossomed into the star of her generation this campaign, which began with an impressive success at York in the Musidora Stakes in May before she romped to a record-breaking 16-length victory in the Oaks.
Snowfall was last seen recording another wide-margin success in the Irish Oaks at the Curragh last month, and heads to the Knavesmire in a bid to emulate the great Enable, who won all three Oaks in 2017.
Last year's winner and Snowfall's stablemate Love has also been entered, but her trainer said she could instead head to Deauville for the Prix Jean Romanet on August 22 as she bids to bounce back from her defeat in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes.
The David Menuisier-trained Wonderful Tonight and recent German Group 1 winner Alpinista also remain in contention.
Sandrine set Lowther assignment
Alpinista's owner Kirsten Rausing could be set for a famous double as her leading juvenile filly Sandrine was confirmed for the Group 2 Sky Bet Lowther Stakes (1.50) on the same card.
The Andrew Balding-trained filly, prominent in the early betting for next year's 1,000 Guineas, is unbeaten in three starts and already has Group 3 and Group 2 victories to her name.
Desert Dreamer was second to Sandrine in the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes at Newmarket and could reoppose, while Princess Margaret Stakes winner Zain Claudette may also take her chance.
