The Flat is back and as well as the sunshine there was plenty to like about the action at Doncaster, Kempton and the Curragh. So who caught the eye of our experts on Saturday?

Persian Force

The market was all over this son of Mehmas before his debut in the Brocklesby and for good reason as he cruised through the race before stamping his authority on the field by four and three-quarter lengths.

The Brocklesby has been quite a hot race in recent years – last season's winner Chipotle won at Royal Ascot – and for Persian Force to win it so easily says plenty about his ability.

Royal Ascot will no doubt be on the agenda and it will take a smart one to beat him judged on this opening display.

Aldous Huxley

This son of Dubawi made a no nonsense debut when powering clear of some experienced opposition in the opening 1m2f novice at Kempton.

The three-year-old had shown promise in his work on Waterhall in the lead-up for John and Thady Gosden and was given a smooth ride by Rab Havlin.

On this evidence he could could well contest a Derby trial despite being related to milers and may end up at Royal Ascot come the summer.

Ocean Quest

Ocean Quest looks potentially well above average judging by what she did in the opening two-year-old maiden at the Curragh. By Sioux Nation, hotly tipped to be the champion first season sire, Ocean Quest gave the Coolmore resident his first success with his first runner.

She may have only won by a head, but Jessica Harrington's charge was locked up with nowhere to go on the rail for much of the straight. When Shane Foley spied a gap, she flew through it and was value for a good bit more at the line. She is definitely smart and could develop into a Pattern class filly, having proved many of the pre-race whispers to be correct.
