Real World ruled out of Coral-Eclipse after scoping badly
Queen Anne and Lockinge Stakes runner-up Real World will miss Saturday's Coral-Eclipse (3.35) at Sandown after scoping badly.
The Saeed bin Suroor-trained five-year-old was as short as 13-2 for the £750,000 contest – a race the Godolphin trainer has landed with Halling (1995 and 1996), Daylami (1998) and Refuse To Bend (2004).
Prix du Jockey Club winner Vadeni was cut to 6-4 favourite (from 7-4) by the race sponsors after Real World was ruled out, with Native Trail, now Godolphin's sole runner, priced at 100-30 second favourite.
Real World, who would have been ridden by Frankie Dettori or Danny Tudhope, has long-range entries in the Qatar Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood on July 27 and the Juddmonte International at York on August 17.
He won the Strensall Stakes over 1m1f at the Ebor meeting last year before gaining Group 2 victories in the Prix Daniel Wildenstein on Arc weekend at Longchamp and the Zabeel Mile at Meydan on his first start this year.
Bin Suroor will assess his condition in the next fortnight before making a plan, with options abroad under consideration.
The trainer said: "There's no major problem with him but he has coughed and scoped badly so unfortunately won't be running on Saturday.
"We'll have to see how he is in a couple of weeks to make a plan. There's plenty of options for him here and abroad, possibly even Canada, but we'll see how things go."
The Sky Bet Lowther Stakes at York is a target for Albany Stakes second Mawj, while Shining Blue, who extended his unbeaten record to three with an easy handicap success at Newcastle last week, is set for a step up in class.
Bin Suroor said: “Mawj is a tiny, light filly and I’m trying to look after her. She’s showing good signs and looks fresh and happy and we’re aiming at the Lowther with her.
“Shining Blue is doing really well and is still unbeaten. I like him, he’s improving and we’re looking at Listed and Group races for him now."
Coral-Eclipse (3.35 Sandown, Saturday)
Coral: 6-4 Vadeni, 100-30 Native Trail, 7-2 Bay Bridge, 13-2 Mishriff, 7 Alenquer, 16 Lord North, 25 Dubai Honour
