Thursday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team

Gowran Park

1.40: Purse Price

Second and third respectively in a Limerick auction maiden over Christmas, Ik's Dream could struggle to confirm that form with Purse Price over this longer trip, the selection's cause strengthened by his rider's claim here. The second Elliott runner Ellis Boyd Redding appears next best.

Newcastle

7.00: Elzaal

This looks quite competitive for the grade with Nellie French and Joshua R having won their latest starts and Spanish Angel (second choice) having more than enough ability to win a race of this nature. Elzaal has got his act together now, though, and his latest C&D win came in impressive fashion. A 3lb rise may well not prevent the hat-trick.

Southwell

2.10: Tiger Crusade

A useful handicap. Tiger Crusade won quite tidily encountering Tapeta for the first time here recently and is selected to make light of a 3lb rise. Tylos made a solid start for the Archie Watson yard when runner-up over C&D three weeks ago and is second choice ahead of last-time-out scorers Zip and Witch Hunter.

4.15: The Gooner

3m point winner The Gooner could be an improver now he's up in trip on his handicap debut and he's the selection ahead of Rockmann, who could also be suited by the step up in distance. The Imposter has been progressive this season and is next on the list, ahead of Moonacura.
