Jet carrying JP McManus makes emergency landing at Shannon airport
A private jet carrying leading owner JP McManus was forced into making an emergency landing at Shannon airport on Sunday evening, according to reports in Ireland.
McManus is understood to have been one of five people on board his Gulfstream G650 jet as the crew declared a mayday emergency due to engine failure over the Irish Sea.
The flight was due to enter UK airspace but returned to Shannon airport, where emergency procedures were put in place.
The jet landed safely at around 7pm and was able to taxi back to Westair Aviation hangar.
McManus, the most successful owner in Cheltenham Festival history whose best horses include three-time Champion Hurdle winner Istabraq, Cheltenham Gold Cup scorer Synchronised and Grand National hero Don't Push It, was later seen leaving the base and walking to his private helicopter, which flew him to his home near Kilmallock in County Limerick.
