Gordon Elliott: Tiger Roll in great nick and will definitely make Cheltenham
Tiger Roll's adoring fans received some great news on Tuesday as Gordon Elliott revealed the two-time Grand National winner is back cantering and will definitely make the Cheltenham Festival.
Tiger Roll had a small chip in a joint which was taken out in mid-November, but he has recovered well from the procedure and Elliott says he is on course for his hat-trick attempt in the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase on March 11.
Indeed, he could be back in time to tackle the Boyne Hurdle at Navan on February 16, although Elliott is not committing to that date yet and will instead monitor the progress of the legendary ten-year-old over the next few weeks.
"Tiger Roll is in great nick and he is back cantering away. I've been very happy with him and with the way he has progressed over the last few weeks," Elliott said.
The trainer added: "It is hard to know whether he will make the Boyne Hurdle at Navan. He could be back in time for it, you never know, but we will see how the next few weeks go. He will definitely make Cheltenham, that's for sure. He's very well at the moment and I couldn't be happier with him."
Tiger Roll is no bigger than 7-1 to emulate Red Rum by winning three Grand Nationals, with 7-4 the biggest price about him making it three in a row in the Cross Country Chase at the festival.
There was also a positive update from Elliott on Savills Chase winner Delta Work, who was slashed to 8-1 with most firms for the Magners Cheltenham Gold Cup following his Leopardstown victory.

Elliott said: "Delta Work is very well and came out of Leopardstown in good nick. We were obviously thrilled with him there and hopefully he can continue to progress as the season goes on."
