Bryony Frost set for Wednesday return from injury ahead of big King George ride
Bryony Frost expects to return from injury at Lingfield on Wednesday and then be reunited with Frodon in the Ladbrokes King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day.
Frost fractured her collarbone in a fall at Bangor late last month but has recovered and been riding out the 2020 King George hero for boss Paul Nicholls in the last few days.
She is confident of getting the green light in a test with physios at Oaksey House on Monday and then intends to head to Lingfield on Wednesday to ride newcomer Country Lady, a half-sister to Frodon, in a bumper.
Writing on her Betfair blog, Frost said: "I’m excited to say that all being well I’ll be back on the racecourse at Lingfield on Wednesday, so I should be fit again for Frodon in the King George at Kempton on Boxing Day, just as I hoped.
"I’ve got another hurdle to jump first, when I return to Oaksey House on Monday for a return to ride test, but while I’m not taking passing it for granted I’ve been through it quite a few times before and I know my body well enough to know that it’s mended.
"Ever since the fall at Bangor I’ve had riding Frode [Frodon] again in the King George as my big goal, and my recovery has gone just as I hoped it would."
The injury was sustained just over a month after Frost returned from a fractured vertebra in her back from a fall at Aintree's Grand National meeting.
She has ridden three winners this season, including on Frodon's comeback in the Badger Beer Handicap Chase at Wincanton in early November.
Frost reported Frodon in "fantastic form" for the King George, in which he is set to line up alongside stablemates Bravemansgame and Hitman.
