Unbeaten Guineas filly Tenebrism delights Aidan O'Brien as Classic team work

Tenebrism was the principal name on Aidan O'Brien's lips after the champion trainer gave some of his Classic hopefuls a workout after racing at the Curragh on Saturday.

Working over seven furlongs in a group of eight, the unbeaten Cheveley Park Stakes winner quickened up nicely under Ryan Moore to lead home her group, and now looks set to head straight to Newmarket for the Qipco 1,000 Guineas, a race for which she is a general 7-1 shot.

O'Brien said: "She went very well. They went a strong seven and she came home very well under Ryan. She quickened past them on the outside and she'll go straight to Newmarket for the 1,000 Guineas."

Tenebrism came home in front of Gowran maiden winner History under Seamie Heffernan and Group 3 Park Stakes winner Concert Hall.

The colts went in the first group over seven furlongs, with Cazoo Derby favourite Luxembourg under Moore finishing alongside Point Lonsdale under Heffernan, Leopardstown maiden winner Star Of India and Criterium International fourth Aikhal.

"Everything went very well. He did everything we wanted him to do," O'Brien said of Luxembourg, a best-priced 4-1 favourite for the Derby and 6-1 shot for the 2,000 Guineas. "He followed up and came home nicely. Ryan was very happy with him."

Point Lonsdale, whose only reverse last year came against Native Trail in the National Stakes, is a best-priced 10-1 for the 2,000 Guineas and 12-1 for the Derby. O'Brien said: "Seamie was very happy with him, he was nice and relaxed and came home nicely. We'll see how they come out of it and the plan at the moment is to send them both straight to Newmarket if everything goes well."
