King George on the radar for Love as Aidan O'Brien charts middle-distance plans
Aidan O'Brien has outlined plans for his crack middle-distance team for the remainder of the season, with superstar filly Love a possible for the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes at Ascot next month.
Love returned from a 300-day layoff to win the Group 1 Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot this month and could return to same course over two furlongs further on July 24.
The Galileo filly was one of the stories of last season, winning the 1,000 Guineas, the Oaks and the Yorkshire Oaks before soft ground ruled her out of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
O'Brien said: "It's not decided yet but the King George is a possible for Love. She hasn't done much since the Prince of Wales's Stakes, but seems to be fine. We were very happy with her going to Ascot and we were delighted with her first start as a four-year-old."
O'Brien's ammunition in the middle-distance division is plentiful and Snowfall will be kept in Ireland for her next engagement after a 16-length demolition of her Oaks rivals at Epsom.
High Definition, who disappointed when sent off 9-4 favourite for the Irish Derby at the Curragh on Saturday, will be rested before a possible return to action at York's Ebor meeting.
O'Brien added: "Snowfall hasn't gone into full training yet, but we're looking at the Irish Oaks for her [on July 17]. We think we'll give High Definition a break and he'll either start back in the Great Voltigeur Stakes [on August 18] or in an Arc trial."
