Jim Best's name is set to return to racecards for the first time since 2016 after the former trainer was advised by the BHA he can now hold a joint licence with his wife Suzi.

The news marks the end of a six-year period during which Best was blocked by the BHA from holding a licence and he stresses he now hopes to remain on much better terms with the governing body.

"Moving forward, I'd like to have a good relationship with the BHA," the 42-year-old said after getting the result he wanted from a licensing committee hearing on Wednesday. "I want to put the past behind me and I just want to focus on getting winners and building the yard back up to where I think it needs to be."
