Jamie Spencer lands remarkable 282-1 five-timer at Yarmouth

Jamie Spencer proved the jockey to follow at Yarmouth on Tuesday as he booted home a 282-1 five timer with victories on Terri Rules, Red Bunting, Encryption, Choco Box and Human Nature.

Spencer joined the top 20 British Flat riders of all time this month when scoring aboard Late Change at the seaside course and his trainer David Simcock supplied the rider with another two winners in the shape of Red Bunting and Encryption.

The Julia Feilden-trained Terri Rules kicked off the Spencer five-timer in the opening 5f handicap when overcoming a sluggish start to get up and beat favourite Assassinate by a length after hitting the front inside the final furlong.

The Simcock pair – Red Bunting and Encryption – came next in the mile novice and the 1m3½f maiden handicap, but it was the victory of Ed Vaughan’s Choco Box in the 6f novice that showed off Spencer’s style in the saddle as he barely moved a muscle when easing the three-year-old to a very comfortable success.

Human Nature had to survive a stewards' inquiry after slightly hampering runner-up Colonel Frank when making his effort to take to the 7f handicap – but the stewards soon gave the result the green light.
