James Tate aims Invincible Army and New Graduate at big Saturday prizes

James Tate is hoping stable stars Invincible Army and New Graduate can return to their best on Saturday after failing to sparkle at Royal Ascot last week.

The Newmarket trainer sends Diamond Jubilee Stakes seventh Invincible Army to Newcastle for the Group 3 Betfair Exchange Chipchase Stakes.

New Graduate, who sunk in the Berkshire mud when a strong Royal Hunt Cup fancy, bids to bounce back in Windsor's Listed GentingBet Midsummer Stakes.

"Things just didn't work out for Invincible Army at Ascot," Tate said. "He's come out of the race in flying form, and has shown that he acts well on a synthetic surface. The plan is to run him at Newcastle."

Invincible Army is a general 9-4 favourite for the Chipchase, ahead of 7-2 shot Mr Lupton, winner of the Group 2 Greenlands Stakes at the Curragh for Richard Fahey on his return this season.

New Graduate, long-time ante-post favourite for the Royal Hunt Cup following a spectacular five-length win on his Ripon reappearance in April, was found out by the rain-softened conditions at Ascot, and Frankie Dettori didn't knock him about when the four-year-old's chance of a place had gone.

Tate said: "He didn't appreciate all the rain Ascot had last week. We were worried about conditions before the race, and Frankie felt that he got bogged down.

"He's always sensible and guided New Graduate home when his chance had gone. As a result he's returned fresh and well and we'll go to Windsor for the Listed race."
