ITV Racing tips: one key runner from each of the seven races on ITV on Saturday
1.50 Sandown
Coral Charge (Group 3), 5f
Mitbaahy proved his liking for Sandown's five-furlong sprint track last time and is a three-year-old on the upgrade. The consistent Raasel possesses blistering speed, while the class of Equilateral should not be ignored.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: MITBAAHY
Improving three-year-old who won the Scurry Stakes (Listed) over course-and-distance three weeks ago; respected
2.05 Haydock
bet365 Handicap, 1m6f
The eye is instantly drawn to the Sir Mark Prescott-trained hat-trick seeker Sea King, who in the manner of so many of his trainer's horses has improved with every start in his five-race career. The in-form William Haggas has a strong hand with Nathanael Greene and Hello Jumeirah.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: DOUBLE CHERRY
Raised 8lb but there is a lot to like about the way he won at Goodwood (1m4f, soft)
2.25 Sandown
Coral Challenge, 1m
You could not get more contrasting profiles among the main contenders for this valuable handicap. Checkandchallenge, who ran in the 2,000 Guineas last time, is an unexposed three-year-old, while Escobar has been there, done that and got the t-shirt. Sinjaari and Lion Tower fit somewhere in the middle and also hold solid claims.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: OUZO
Clear second over course-and-distance on stable and seasonal debut, then had possible excuses at Royal Ascot
bet365 Lancashire Oaks (Group 2), 1m4f
John Gosden is the leading trainer in Lancashire Oaks history and targets a ninth success with Free Wind, who has been absent since bolting up in the Park Hill at Doncaster last September. Eshaada will have her supporters after escaping a penalty for winning last year's Group 1 Fillies & Mares Stakes on British Champions Day.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: ESHAADA
Group 1 winner at Ascot last October; disappointing on return but may have needed it
3.00 Sandown
Coral Distaff (Listed), 1m
Royal Ascot winner Heredia, who holds Group 1 entries, attempts to extend her unbeaten run to five for trainer Richard Hannon. Grande Dame, Fast Attack and Oscula look the pick of the opposition.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: HEREDIA
Justified favouritism in Royal Ascot handicap two weeks ago; improving and still unbeaten
bet365 Old Newton Cup Handicap, 1m4f
Gaassee looks every inch a Group horse masquerading as a handicapper and the market has not missed him as he is a short price for traditionally one of the most competitive handicaps of the season. Recent winners Liverpool Knight and Get Shirty will be waiting in the wings should the hot favourite fail to fire.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: SOMETHING ENTICING
Has some good Listed form to her name and she's interesting now back in a handicap
3.35 Sandown
Coral-Eclipse (Group 1), 1m2f
The Eclipse offers the first opportunity for the best of the Classic generation to take on their elders and there is a fascinating clash of the ages in store. Leading three-year-olds Vadeni and Native Trail, winners of the Prix du Jockey Club and Irish 2,000 Guineas respectively, come up against some of the world's finest older horses, headed by Brigadier Gerard scorer Bay Bridge.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: VADENI
Improving three-year-old who looked superb in the French Derby last month; strongly respected
Saturday's race previews:
1.50 Sandown: 'He's definitely on the upgrade' - can Mitbaahy strike again at Sandown?
2.25 Sandown: Hunt Cup fifth Sinjaari bids to continue series of big weight-carrying displays
2.40 Haydock: Can progressive Free Wind take another step up the ladder for the Gosdens?
3.00 Sandown: Unbeaten filly Heredia continues march to Group 1 level with Listed challenge
3.15 Haydock: Gaassee out to prove he's a Group horse in waiting in the Old Newton Cup
3.35 Sandown: 2022 Coral-Eclipse: Vadeni and Native Trail star in six-runner spectacular
