'It's going to be hard' - leading jockeys expect tough move to new whip rules

Leading Flat jockeys Richard Kingscote and Jim Crowley are anticipating a difficult transition period ahead of the change in whip rules for British racing next year.

The Group 1-winning jockeys expressed uncertainty at Lingfield on Tuesday over the BHA decision,which bans the whip in the forehand position and allows disqualification for the most extreme cases of rule breaking.

The new rules will first be implemented over jumps on February 6 after a four-week bedding-in period and will come into effect on the Flat on March 27, to account for some Flat jockeys spending the winter abroad.
