Trainer delighted after landing valuable Kentucky prize with his first runner outside of Ireland
Trainer Pat Foley has described Special Wan's success at Kentucky Downs on Saturday as one of the highlights of his training career after the four-year-old powered to a commanding success in a fillies' allowance race under Joel Rosario, ensuring the trainer's first runner outside of Ireland was a hugely memorable one.
Foley's Bagenalstown yard is no stranger to superstars given the trainer's father Tom masterminded the career of immensely popular jumper Danoli, while Rebel Gold has been one of the stable's flagbearers since Pat took over the licence in 2021.
The yard has also unearthed some smart performers on the Flat in that time, and Special Wan was snapped up by prominent owners Team Valor after she finished a close second in Listed company at Naas in May.
