Sky Sports Racing set to introduce separate service for Ireland as daytime ban on gambling advertising looms closer

Sky Sports Racing is on the verge of introducing a separate Irish feed with tailored advertising as the controversial Gambling Regulation Bill negotiates the final steps of the legislative process.

The bill, which legislates for a daytime gambling advertising watershed, completed all five stages in the Dail (lower house) this year and has been at committee stage in the Seanad (upper house) since May 14. 

Sky Sports Racing, along with Racing TV, has previously stated that the proposed gambling advertising ban between 5.30am and 9pm would render broadcasting in Ireland "economically unviable", resulting in calls for an exemption to be implemented for subscription-based racing channels.
