'She's come a long way in a short space of time' - Gavin Cromwell eyeing Cesarewitch glory with Sixandahalf
Gavin Cromwell is hoping a mare who was not even seen on a racecourse before March of this year, and was beaten in a bumper at Naas on her debut, can win one of the biggest staying handicaps of the season at Newmarket next month.
The prolific dual-purpose trainer already has his eyes firmly fixed on the Cesarewitch for Sixandahalf, who is just 12-1 with Paddy Power for the marathon following her emphatic victory in a 1m6f handicap on the July course last month.
It has been a rapid rise in the ranks for Sixandahalf, who was second in a Naas bumper in the second week of March, but registered her first success in impressive fashion when running away with a Punchestown festival bumper by 11 lengths.
