1 - Brighterdaysahead a top-notch two miler
Given her only defeat came in the Mares' Novices' Hurdle, when the contest turned into a dash late on, and that she had won over 2m5f on heavy ground, I was unconvinced Brightedaysahead could take on an elite two-mile hurdler such as State Man. But she got the job done, despite putting an indifferent round of jumping.
Even if State Man flew the last, there was little to suggest he could repel the winner's rallying effort. She confirmed herself a mare of rare talent, particularly given the versatility she's displayed to trip this early in her career.
