Ebor winner Magical Zoe ruled out of Melbourne Cup as connections opt against Australian trip for star mare
Leading fancy Magical Zoe will not be running in this year's Lexus Melbourne Cup as connections have decided against bringing the impressive Ebor winner down to Australia.
Following her stylish success at York in the Ebor, a 'win and you're in' race for the Melbourne Cup, Magical Zoe was cut to as short as 12-1 with some firms and was no bigger than 16-1 anywhere.
The six-year-old is now rated 109 and was allocated 52.5kg (8st 4lb) for the Flemington feature but, after mulling it over with Patrick and Scott Bryceland who own the mare, Henry de Bromhead has decided that a tilt at the famous race would not be in her best interests.
