Dual Royal Ascot heroine Porta Fortuna being geared up for big duel with Fallen Angel in Matron
Porta Fortuna will bid to add the Matron Stakes to her jam-packed CV at the Irish Champions Festival on September 14 after trainer Donnacha O'Brien confirmed that his stable star will pitch up for another highly anticipated duel with Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Fallen Angel in the Group 1 over a mile.
O'Brien's top filly had a hugely productive juvenile campaign, landing the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes as well as a runner-up effort against the colts in the Phoenix Stakes, before finishing off the campaign by filling the same spot behind Hard To Justify in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.
The daughter of Caravaggio has gone from strength to strength this season, finishing second in the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket before notching her second Royal Ascot success when taking the Group 1 Coronation Stakes, and then bolting up by three and three-quarter lengths in the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes on her latest start.
