Vermeille and the Arc on the agenda for back-to-form Raabihah
The high-class Raabihah is on target to try to capture an elusive Group 1 after victory in the Darley Prix de Pomone at Deauville on Sunday.
Having previously finished second on all three starts this term, Shadwell's daughter of Sea The Stars put things right in this Group 2, beating five rivals by two and a half lengths and up.
Last year's Prix Vermeille second and Arc fifth is now likely to have those races on her agenda again, according to trainer Jean-Claude Rouget.
Rouget said: "She ran very well in the Arc last year at the end of a long season. Remember she ran at Cagnes-sur-Mer last winter and so the spring this year was never the objective. She's been running well over shorter, but the idea was always to have her at her best for the second part of the year.
"She's now on course for the good prizes in the autumn. If she comes out of this well it will be the Vermeille next, and if she ran well there then she could go to the Arc."
In the following Group 2, the Darley Prix Kergorlay, odds-on favourite Skazino came rattling home late to deny the front-running Rip Van Lips on what was a day of thrilling Deauville finishes.
The gelded son of Kendargent had two Group-race victories to his name already and had to dig deep against the rail to record a head success.
Trainer Cedric Rossi said: "He's had a proper race today, but he is tough, like all of us in Marseille. He'll run in the Cadran and, although you have to be worried about the extra distance, until he's done it you don't know. He's done everything we've asked of him at every trip so far."
