Frankie Dettori will make a quick comeback from a shoulder injury this weekend and is already looking ahead to the Breeders' Cup.

The legendary jockey dislocated his right shoulder when unseating from a runner in the stalls at Aqueduct on Thursday. Dettori was taken to hospital but on further assessment from an orthopaedic specialist he was given the all-clear.

He makes his return in time to partner May Day Ready in Sunday's Grade 2 Miss Grillo Stakes, in which victory would provide her with an automatic berth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.

The Joseph Lee-trained runner was an impressive winner for Dettori in the Kentucky Downs Juvenile Fillies Stakes at the start of the month. She is 16-1 in the Juvenile Fillies Turf ante-post market.

Dettori told Bloodhorse.com: "I won a few times on the dam [Nemoralia]. Joe used to work ride with me at Godolphin many moons ago. We go back a long time. He doesn't have that many horses.

"She's still a bit green, so that's good because that means there's room for improvement. I suspect she has a shot at the Breeders' Cup."

The rider has won 15 races at the Breeders' Cup, with the first coming in 1994 aboard Barathea and the latest achieved just last year aboard Inspiral in the Filly & Mare Turf. This year's two-day meeting takes place at Del Mar on November 1 and 2.

Dettori retired from British racing last October before relocating to the United States, but said in August he had no plans to curtail his riding career. He enjoyed a notable winner last month in the Nashville Derby aboard the Andrew Balding-trained Bellum Justum.
