Two Melbourne Cup runners still need to be passed fit by vets

Two horses will need to be re-examined by Racing Victoria veterinarians on Tuesday morning before being passed fit to race in the Melbourne Cup.

Delphi from the Anthony and Sam Freedman stable presented with lameness in his left foreleg while Matt Cumani's Future Score was found to be lame in his right foreleg on Monday.

Inspections will occur prior to the 7.30am (8.30pm on Monday GMT) scratching time on Tuesday. The remaining 22 horses were passed fit to race.

All horses were inspected prior to Melbourne Cup acceptances on Saturday with Delphi presenting with mild-lameness in his left foreleg last Thursday. Subsequently the horse was re-examined on Friday and passed suitable to accept.

Future Score was also inspected on Friday and given the all-clear to accept.

Spanish Mission was passed fit to run in the Melbourne Cup on Saturday having originally not pleased vets last Thursday and Friday.

Damien Oliver has been booked to ride Delphi attempting to win a fourth Melbourne Cup while Dean Yendall has been engaged to ride Future Score.

Sportsbet has marked Delphi an $18 chance after finishing 13th in the Caulfield Cup with Future Score at odds of $201.
