Longchamp updates: Prix du Jockey Club hero Look De Vega still weak in the market for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe

The drift on Look De Vega in the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (3.20) is continuing, with the Prix du Jockey Club hero still weak in the market for Sunday's Longchamp showpiece.

Trained by Carlos and Yann Lerner, the three-year-old had been the 4-1 joint-favourite earlier in the week, but began to drift on Saturday morning and was a 7-1 shot overnight. He has weakened further this morning and is now 15-2 with William Hill and Ladbrokes.

Look De Vega was an impressive winner of the French Classic in June, but suffered a first career defeat when third in the Prix Niel behind Sosie last time.

Shin Emperor is also proving to be slightly weak in the market for the Arc in his bid to give Japan a long-awaited triumph in France's most prestigious race.

The Yoshito Yahagi-trained three-year-old had been a 6-1 chance overnight for the 1m4f Group 1, but has drifted to a general 13-2 this morning ahead of his attempt at history. A Japanese runner has never won the Arc, including when coming agonisingly close to doing so with Orfevre in 2012.

Shin Emperor warmed up for his Longchamp assignment when a fine third in the Irish Champion Stakes behind Economics last month and while he is yet to win at the highest level, he did finish third in the Japanese Derby this year.

Nothing can separate top-class three-year-olds Sosie and Los Angeles at the top of the Arc betting, with the pair the 9-2 joint-favourites.

Going update: uncertain forecast ahead of Arc day

The going remains good to soft on the GoingStick or 'souple' at Longchamp ahead of Arc day, but there is uncertainty over whether some rain will hit the track before racing begins.

The ground is described as 3.6 on the official French penetrometer scale for the star-studded card, although one forecaster says there is a 74 per cent chance of rain in Paris this morning. However, the Met Office suggests that there is a 50 per cent chance of rain, with the day set to be mainly cloudy in the French capital.

A fresh strip of ground will be in operation for the fixture, with the Grande Piste having eight metres of unraced ground on the rail which widens to 16 metres in the straight. A cutaway is also being used in the home straight just over two furlongs from the finish.

Weather watch: view from our reporter in Paris

It's a fresh morning in Paris. Turftrax report less than 1mm of overnight rain but there has been a bit more this morning - never sustained but enough to make the roads glossy. The thinking is that it will put back the moisture lost to Saturday's sun. It remains overcast and drizzly at 10am but forecasts say it should dry shortly and remain so until the action is over.
