'He's lower in the handicap in Britain' - confidence in French cross-country raider high as David Cottin brings two to Cheltenham

David Cottin will saddle his first two runners in Britain since 2021 at Cheltenham on Friday and Saturday when Iceo Madrik and Jet Blue fly the flag for British-based owner Caroline Tisdall.
Cottin has enjoyed a couple of notable recent successes with horses Tisdall has transferred to France from David Pipe, and Iceo Madrik is currently favourite for Friday's Glenfarclas Crystal Cup Cross Country Handicap Chase (3.00) off the back of victory in the Listed Grand Cross de Compiegne last month.
Hubert Barbe, who manages Tisdall's horses in France, said: "Iceo Madrik has had this race on his programme since he switched to cross-country races, a discipline he has only run in six times. It is logical to have a go around Cheltenham if we are thinking about coming back in March so you could say it is a reconnaissance mission.
