Duhail team ponder Queen Anne raid after impressive Prix du Muguet display
Duhail continued his progress when getting the better of some talented rivals in the Prix du Muguet under a confident ride from Vincent Cheminaud.
The Revenant and Victor Ludorum had to settle for fighting out the finish for third as Duhail picked up Pretreville to score for Al Shaqab and Andre Fabre.
Connections will be doubly satisfied as the son of Lope De Vega has taken time to fulfil his early potential.
"He showed a lot of promise at three and he's just had a couple of niggling problems and wasn't fully mature," said Al Shaqab racing manager Rupert Pritchard-Gordon. "We gave him some time and he's repaying everyone now.
"Andre will decide what to do but he's in the Queen Anne. He's just very versatile and a very classy horse."
Paddy Power cut Duhail to 20-1 (from 40-1) for the Royal Ascot prize.
Victor Ludorum ran on well on his first start since September while The Revenant also stuck to his task having looked one of the first under pressure, and the Prix d'Ispahan over an extra furlong and a quarter may come into consideration for both horses.
Stephane Pasquier will be looking forward to the Chantilly Classics after sweeping the colts' and fillies' trials on the card. Baby Rider got the better of a duel with longtime leader Smile Makers in the Group 2 Prix Geffulhe to set up a challenge for the Prix du Jockey Club on June 6.
"The pair of them were accelerating all the way up the straight after going a good even gallop and he was very strong at the end, which is always a good sign," said Pasquier.
Later on the card the jockey steered Harajuku to success for Fabre in the colours of the Niarchos Family in the Group 3 Prix Cleopatre.
"She had a couple of hard races last year so after a quiet comeback it's great to see she has retained her taste for racing," said Pasquier. "She's not the biggest but she has great heart and she picks up when you ask her."
