Deauville devotees back in town to take advantage of end of quarantine

Deauville has been ringing to the sounds of British and Irish accents for the last few days as bloodstock agents, owners and trainers descend on the Arqana August Yearling sale.

But the removal of France from the UK government's amber plus list – meaning double-vaccinated adults no longer need to quarantine on their return to Britain from across the English Channel – has encouraged racing fans and owners of more modest means to make the trip.

In the case of a group of friends with horses in training with Stan Moore and Myriam Bollack-Badel, there was extra encouragement to be on-course on the day that Palace Pier and Poetic Flare faced off in the Prix Jacques le Marois.
