Benbatl bounces back with Group 1 victory in Munich to set up Winx clash
Godolphin's Benbatl returned to form when landing the Group 1 Grosser Dallmayr Preis on Sunday and could head to Australia this autumn in a bid to deny Winx a record fourth Cox Plate.
The four-year-old, who was last seen finishing down the field in the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot, led from the off under Oisin Murphy and pulled clear of the Ed Walker-trained Stormy Antarctic to win by a comfortable two and three-quarter lengths.
Trainer Saeed Bin Suroor said: "He made all and the pace suited him as he was still on the bridle with two furlongs to go.
"I'm very pleased with him and we'll now look at our options, which include the Juddmonte International, the Irish Champion Stakes and going to Australia."
The son of Dubawi spent a productive winter in Dubai where he won the Group 1 Dubai Turf, but he could only finish tenth behind Accidental Agent at Royal Ascot last time. He is a best-priced 12-1 shot with Coral for the Juddmonte.
