Spiralling costs have forced Jack Barber to quit training at the age of 30.

Rising fuel, feed and bedding prices are putting trainers under strain and Barber, the grandson of legendary point-to-point trainer Richard, said it was making his business unsustainable.

He will saddle his final runner, Doyannie, later this month and will go on to work with wife Jade at the holiday lodges and sheep farm, run by his parents Jeremy and Sarah, situated at the yard in Higher Peckmoor, Somerset.
