Punter credits Pricewise after landing £167,000 payout without realising
A punter has credited the Racing Post's Pricewise with helping him win over £167,000 in last weekend's Tote Scoop6 rollover, but his bid to land a bonus £200,000 came up short after Snash was beaten in the Great St Wilfrid Handicap at Ripon on Saturday.
Danny Sarling, who is based in Essex, landed £167,710.77 from one of his £2 line bets last Saturday, having placed a £16 Scoop6 perm of eight £2 lines, which included Themaxwecan's success in the Shergar Cup Stayers and was tipped by Keith Melrose in the Racing Post.
Sarling had the chance to take his total winnings to over £367,000 with the bonus bet if he correctly chose the winner of the lucrative 6f sprint, but the Tim Easterby-trained Snash could not land a blow on Intrinsic Bond.
Speaking to the Tote earlier this week, he said: "Other than the favourites that I’d picked out, Pricewise is to thank for the first of my bigger priced selections that won as he’d put up Themaxwecan in the Racing Post, who won leg two and blew the Scoop6 open."
Despite Pricewise selecting Emperor Spirit and Fortamour for Ripon's feature race, Sarling has instead gambled on Snash to land him the mega bonus.
A director at a London-based cleaning company, Sarling said: "It was incredible. I didn’t actually realise I’d won the Scoop because I was out for lunch with my wife, so I’d recorded the racing to watch when I got back in.
"It was mid-afternoon by the time I’d got back in front of the TV so I was watching the recording of the first few races and thought 'I’m doing alright here'.
"I’d just watched leg four and thought I had a real chance when I got the call to say congratulations and get ready for the bonus race. It was unbelievable."
