Hollie Doyle hit the ground running on her return to British racing when scoring on Dutugamunu, her very first ride back after a hectic week which saw her in action in Hong Kong and France.

Dutugamunu, who was successful in the mile handicap, has always had a lot to live up to at Richard Spencer's Newmarket yard as he is a half-brother to the trainer's pioneer sprinter and now first-season sire Rajasinghe.

Spencer, who trained Rajasinghe to win the Group 2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2017, said: "Dutugamunu is a horse that has always worked better than his mark of 58. Hopefully, he can have a productive winter after that although we won't be getting too carried away just yet as it was only a Class 6 handicap."

Doyle moved onto 144 British winners for the year and 21 for the winter when getting Book Of Secrets home from game front-runner Coupe De Champagne in the 1m2f nursery.

Just four days after becoming the first British-based female jockey to ride a winner at the International Jockeys Challenge in Hong Kong, Doyle was seen to good effect on the 3-1 chance who is trained by Amy Murphy.

It had already been a busy weekend for the in-demand Doyle, as she drove herself to Deauville on Saturday, finishing fourth in a Listed race on the Archie Watson-trained The Perfect Crown.

Two trebles

David Probert moved level with Hollie Doyle in third place in the all-weather jockeys' championship when registering a treble which began courtesy of a late spare ride on Inaam in the 6f handicap.

The former joint champion apprentice also mopped up both divisions of the 1m4f handicap with market leaders Gold Standard and Cafe Sydney for Tony Carroll, who had previously bagged the 6f sprint handicap with veteran Boom The Groom.
