Henderson helps out Ten To Follow entrants with two well-supported winners
No bonus races and no Grade 1s meant there was not much of an opportunity for large points hauls in the Tote Ten To Follow this week, but there were chances to eke out winners nonetheless.
While he was a talking point for Ten To Follow players last week for not running Altior in the Tingle Creek Chase, Nicky Henderson will be in the good books for many this time around with two well-supported winners in the competition.
Mister Fisher’s victory in the rearranged Peterborough Chase ensured that the Seven Barrows trainer had the top scoring horse in the competition as his late thrust bagged 26.8 points for 1,217 stables.
The points for Henderson continued back at Cheltenham on Saturday, though not with the horse the market suspected.
Chantry House was sent off favourite for the 2m4½f novice chase with the hopes of 2,135 Ten To Follow stables on his back, while Fusil Raffles carried the support of 1,777 players.
It was the latter who prevailed after showing a willing attitude up the hill to claim success and 13.8 points, while his stablemate laboured to a third-place finish.
Many fancied Goshen for the International Hurdle and so, too, did 3,506 Ten To Follow players who had picked the Gary Moore-trained star to make amends for his festival mishap when he had the Triumph Hurdle at his mercy.
However, he did not fire on the day and it was Song For Someone who gamely fought off the unlucky Silver Streak and Ballyandy for Grade 2 success.
It was a third win at that level and his second in the scoring period, adding another 28.8 points to his tally to take him up to a total of 52.2 points.
The most popular Ten To Follow winner in Ireland was the Henry de Bromhead-trained Captain Guinness, who was picked by 353 stables. He justified favouritism at Punchestown on Friday at the expense of Midnight Run to collect 12.72 points.
